Masala refers to a combination of different kinds of spices used in Indian cuisine. Masala chai is directly referred to as 'spiced tea' and many people prefer chai better known as masala chai. Once the masala chai made its way all over the world and became lovingly referred to as just chai. Masala chai has five basic ingredients which are almost always present water, tea leaves, milk, sugar, a mixture of cardamom and black pepper, and ginger.

In total some basic ingredients are always present:
Water: Water is an essential component of masala tea because it maintains the taste by properly providing a proper ratio of milk and water.
Milk: Milk is a component that reduces the acidity of the stomach. That means it is good for our health, milk provides a creamy texture to your drink (masala chai), milk is always added in 1/4 amount of the masala chai, the other 3/4 part is obtained by water. Some people prefer not to add milk to the chai. So, the portion is replaced by water.
Sugar: Sugar provides a sweet taste to your masala chai, it acts as a sweetening agent.
Tea leaves: Tea leaves provide you a flavor it should be added in the proper amount so that the masala chai did not taste bitter.
Black pepper
Ginger.
THE ESSENTIAL SPICE: Green Cardamom
When we talk about "chai-flavored" anything, the main character or dominant flavor we are talking about is green cardamom. It is intensely fragrant, with sharp vegetal notes of green spice and pepper, green cardamom pods are harvested earlier than back cardamom, which is muskier and smokier. Green cardamom is the best of most chai recipes. You should lightly crack the pods before steeping them in the tea.
RECIPE OF MASALA CHAI
It just feels satisfying holding a hot cup of masala chai because you know it is the solution to all your problems. Is it only me or do you feel the same? As the taste is tremendous the recipe is so easy to cook masala chai. Chai means tea to most of the world, but most English speakers think of chai as a spiced tea drink masala chai. Yes, technically chai tea means "tea tea".
There are two ways to do this: throw everything in a pot of water and simmer, then add the milk, tea, and sweetener, and brew for a few minutes or, let the slices soak overnight in the water then simmer in the morning with your tea leaves and milk. For tea leaves, use Assam or Ceylon tea if you are a purist. English Breakfast will also do.
Play around with the flavors. More cardamom if you are a fan, for example, the fellows at the deli told it's a sin to combine the ginger with milk, but most people like the extra dimensions of heat it adds.
