DIY Pie Spice Blends (Apple and Pumpkin)

Pie spices are for so much more than just pie. It can be used for overnight oats, baking, desserts, applesauce, fruit leather, steamers & lattes, gingerbread houses, pancakes, tea and so much more.


WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN APPLE PIE SPICE AND PUMPKIN PIE SPICE

The difference is intensity. Pumpkin pie spice is a little more intense due to cloves and additional ginger and allspice. Apple pie spice has more cinnamon.


APPLE PIE SPICE BLEND

Ingredients


  • 1/4 cup ground cinnamon

  • 2 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 2 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 1/2 tsp ground allspice

  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, optional


Instructions


  1. Place all ingredients in small bowl and mix well.

  2. Pour into small, seal able glass jar.

  3. Seal tight and store in dry, cool, dark place for up to 2 years.




PUMPKIN PIE SPICE BLEND


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup ground cinnamon

  • 1 Tbsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 Tbsp ground ginger

  • 1 1/2 tsp ground allspice

  • 1 tsp ground cloves


Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in small bowl and mix well.

  2. Pour into glass jar with tight fitting lid.

  3. Keep for up to 2 years.
